The practice of conversion therapy is now illegal in Canada. This puts the health and dignity of Canadians first. Conversion therapy targets an individual's sexual orientation or gender identity with the intention of aligning them with what is considered "natural" or "normal".

These discriminating practices have been proven to be harmful to physical, mental and social well-being. They enforce stereotypes about LGBTQ2+ communities, particularly that their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression are wrong. No Canadian should be subjected to abuse of this nature. Canada will always support and protect members of the LGBTQ2+ community.
