It’s our job to ensure Canadians and Canadian businesses still affected by the pandemic get the support they need to get through this health crisis. Canada will continue to work together and fight to end COVID-19 while continuing to support our small businesses and workers. 

Bill C-2 covers four main issues:

• COVID-19 Business Supports:
  • Targeted supports to help tourism recover, boost the hardest hit industries and support businesses facing local lockdowns.
• Canada Worker Lockdown Benefit:
  • Income support for those whose employment or self-employment is interrupted by a lockdown order due to COVID-19.
• Canada Recovery Benefits Act: 
  • Extend the Sickness Benefit (CRSB) and Caregiving Benefit (CRCB), to help those recovering from COVID-19 or caring for a loved one, up until May 7, 2022
• Sick Leave Due To COVID-19:
  • Increase the maximum amount of time for leave related to COVID-19 to help protect jobs

These updated regulations will apply from December 19, 2021, to February 12, 2022, during which time it is expected that public health authorities will continue to implement restrictions that help to limit the spread of the Omicron variant across Canada. Our government will continue to help Canadians through the pandemic and ensure Canada’s economic recovery leaves no one behind.
