Over the past 21 months, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted a number of issues facing Canadians in their workplaces. With Bill C-3, the Government has taken steps to further prioritize the health and safety of Canadians at work.
Health care workers and patients should never have to worry about their safety. Unfortunately, many of them have experienced or faced intimidation while attempting to provide or access health services. With the passage of this Bill, blocking access to health care sites or intimidating health care workers is now illegal in Canada.
The Government of Canada took decisive action, working across the aisle, to provide Canadians in federally-regulated industries with 10 paid days of sick leave. Canadians should not have to choose between going to work sick or paying their bills.
Bill C-3 provides protections for health care workers and Canadians accessing health care services. These reforms will make a meaningful difference in the lives of Canadians working in federally regulated industries and the health care sector.
