Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. On this day we promote the freedom and dignity of our LGBTQ2+ community to live freely and openly, to identify as they choose and love who they choose without fear of reprisal.
Today we reaffirm the fundamental rights and dignity inherent to all people. Together, we can build a society where LGBTQ2 persons feel safe, valued, and free to be themselves. This year's theme, "For some, showing their colours isn't a choice," aims to denounce physical violence and emotional abuse against LGBTQ+ people that results from homophobic and transphobic behaviours and attitudes.
Today and every day we denounce homophobia, transphobia and biphobia. Please find the statement from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
