The federal government is investing $100 million to help rebuild Canada’s biomanufacturing sector and strengthen our ability to manufacture vaccines and therapeutics domestically.
Since our government's Call to Action early on in the pandemic, we have worked collaboratively with over 6,500 companies big and small to produce hand sanitizers, face shields, medical gowns and other supplies for our frontline workers. We have invested approximately $1 billion to help advance industrial research and development into Canadian vaccine, therapy and biomanufacturing solutions to fight COVID-19.
Our investment of $100 million to manufacture vaccines and therapeutics in Canada will help support and rebuild domestic capabilities to fight both COVID-19, as well as any future pandemics. We will strengthen and enhance biomanufacturing capacity in Canada and once again become an international leader in this space.
