Our government has made an investment of $400 million over 5 years for active transportation to help build a more sustainable, resilient and healthier Canada.
Active Transportation is the movement of people or goods powered by human activity. Active transportation includes walking, cycling and the use of human-powered or hybrid mobility aids such as wheelchairs, scooters, e-bikes, rollerblades, snowshoes and cross-country skis. This investment, part of our 8-year, $14.9-billion public transit investment plan, will help create more bike lanes, trails and walkways across the country. It will also help Canada achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
Projects of this nature will help create good jobs, fight climate change and enhance our public transit systems by creating more options for quick, affordable and healthier ways to move around our communities.
