Today our government added 13 groups to the Criminal Code list of terrorist entities, and maintained the list of 7 other entities. Listing terrorist entities under the Criminal Code is not a political exercise, it is an important legal tool in the fight against terrorism.
To be listed, an individual or group must meet the legal threshold, which can then help to support possible criminal investigations and prosecutions for any offences. The listing also sends a strong message that Canada will not tolerate acts of violent extremism and terror.

Canadians can be confident in the work performed by our security agencies, who are constantly on alert to evolving threats. The Government of Canada will continue to list groups that meet the criteria as terrorist entities, regardless of their ideology.
