Our government is investing more for made-in-Canada vaccines, and has now signed an agreement through the Strategic Investment Fund (SIF) for up to 76 million doses of a potential vaccine candidate with Medicago, based in Quebec City. Our government now has agreements in place to secure access to up to 358 million doses of potential COVID-19 vaccines.

We will also invest up to $18.2 million in Vancouver-based biotechnology company Precision NanoSystems Incorporated (PNI) through the SIF to support a $24.27-million project to advance the development of a COVID-19 vaccine candidate, and provide up to $23.2 million in funding through the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program to advance six COVID-19 vaccine candidates in various stages of clinical trials.

When a vaccine is ready, Canada will be ready.
